SLIMMING DOWN YOUR LEGS

"How do I slim down my thighs?"

To me, anyone who wants to slim down most probably has been in some workout routine that made the thighs look bigger or not change at all.

This is very common among us. Most often we get into a workout so we lose some weight especially fat. After a few workout sessions and everything else done right(including diet) we do lose the fat but continuing with working out we stress the muscles more and they grow. When a muscle is overworked it grows. That is where we notice our legs are getting bigger.

Today I wanted to share some tips on what to do if on this stage.

  • The first tip is always to Stop doing the workouts which you thought might have bulked you up.

A lot of the programs out there have a lot of "hard workouts". These are workouts that overuse our leg muscles making muscles grow in them hence looking bigger.

Popular workouts include lunges, squats, cycling, high knees, running up a hill, and such. Some forms of dancing workouts also tend to incorporate these workouts and for that reason, I try to be very careful with a lot of dancing workouts.

Stopping such workouts will help the muscle to stop growing in the legs further.

  • The second tip is to always switch to low Impact kinds of workouts.

Low impact kind of workouts as my community likes to call them are Pilates styled workouts. They focus more on stretching muscles rather than overusing one part of it. Examples include leg raises,  leg circles, and sliders.

Such workouts are available on my YouTube Channel and in my Workout Program.

  • The Third and last tip about working out is cardio
The best cardio to slim down is walking and running. I always advise for 7000 to 10000 steps a day for 6 days a week and 30 minutes of an interval run every 2 days a week

You can do your walking anywhere; inside the house, outside in a park, on a treadmill, on the beach. This blog here discusses how exactly walking burns fat in the thighs and legs.

Hope you learn something from this short blog post.

HOW POWER WALKING BURNS FAT IN THIGHS

Recently I left a little quiz on my YouTube Channel about what burns fat more efficiently. Is it running or power walking?  The right answer is walking; Power Walking.  Here's the thing, the body creates energy in two ways; with oxygen(Aerobic) and without oxygen(Anaerobic). Hold on tight we are getting there. Now depending on the type of workout, one is doing the body will choose to either use fat or carbs for energy. Fat is usually what is stored. For most women, it is stored in the thighs and booty while for most men it is stored in the belly area. Carbs are usually what is available in the body at the moment. Maybe that piece of bread you just had. (Hold that thought right there) Let's take running and walking as our types of examples. When you are running you are most of the time running out of oxygen what we say 'gas'. You might be panting and breathing heavily trying to look for gas. On the other hand, when walking you are not panting, you can hold a simple ...
