Having a Flat Tummy

Having a flat tummy is probably one of the top goals most of us have when we start working out. And the good news is it is actually easier to lose belly fat than slimming down legs and thighs. In fact, in women and girls, one of the areas we tend to see results first is usually the belly area.

Women tend to store extra fat in their thighs and butt compared to men who tend to store more fat in their bellies. So for us as women, it is easier to reach the flat tummy goal. Two ways help with losing belly fat. The main one has been eating a calorie deficit diet and the second one has been doing HIIT workouts.

Eating at a calorie deficit.

Ideally, women should consume around 2000 calories a day. To be at a deficit, we subtract 300 from that so it is 1700 calories a day. Eating at a deficit helps the body use up the stored fat in substitute for the fewer calories you are having. This way you use some of that stored belly fat.

Since now you have your calories noted down, check on your macronutrients too. Carbohydrates should be lower, followed by fat and finally protein. This varies from person to person and it is very important to know how many calories and macros you should be having in a day. For example, for myself, my daily calorie intake is 1653 Macros (Carbs 82g, Protein 132g, and Fat at 93g).  That just gives me an idea of how I should be planning my meals.

HIIT.

The second best way to lose belly fat is by doing HIIT. HIIT stands for High-Intensity Interval Training and is really good at helping burn loads of calories within a short time.

Being in a calorie deficit and doing HIIT will mean the body will be forced to use stored fat for energy and that is exactly what we want.

The reason HIIT is so good at helping lose belly fat is that most of the HIIT workouts are core-based. Think of pushups, planks, interval running. These really strengthen and tighten the core muscles and would even allow for the appearance of our abs.

Remember, every single person has abs. The reason why they can't be seen is that there is a layer of fat covering them. Doing HIIT and eating a low-calorie diet will allow this layer of fat to be lost and that is how you reveal your abs.

Love you.

WORKOUTS THAT CAN BULK UP

I must start by saying that there is no workout that can be regarded as a 'bad' workout and you should avoid it because it will bulk you up. It all depends on how much you keep doing it and what muscles are mostly used. In today's blog post, let's talk about the kind of workouts that when overdone are likely to add muscle. Squats Lunges High Knees Traditional HIIT(that which includes loads of jumping) Running up a hill Using the elliptical and stair master Lifting heavy weights Jumping rope To know exactly how they add bulk please read this post  here A lot of the above workouts focus so much on the quads and hamstrings. They will probably overwork these muscles leading them to grow bigger. Maybe too much than your liking.  The key here is not to avoid them but to do them in moderation. If you do a squat as a warmup. Then that is probably not a big problem. If you do HIIT twice a week, that is also acceptable. Want to know which workouts will not bulk you up. Click Here
